Mise En Scene (Stranger Things)

I am writing my mise-en-scene post on the first episode of Stranger Things which came out July 15, 2016. The show is about a group of friends that live in this town then one day one of the friends go missing, the group starts to notice all the paranormal things that are happening in this town. In the show we learn how the kids have to deal with the stress of losing a friend and trying to find him. We see plenty of ups and downs between all the friends in the show. The creators of the show are the Duffer Brothers, Matt and Ross Duffer, and it is loosely based on all of the conspiracies that were going around during the cold war. In the beginning of the show we start by hearing a very earie noise playing in the background showing us the date, then we pan into a shot of a Laboratory in the middle of the night. Then we see shots of dark earie hallways with flashing lights. As the camera is zooming into a big metal door the audience experiences a jump scare when someone runs out of the room...

Master Edits in a Professional Film Audio

Intro:  1. Throughout my intros and cuts I decided that it would be better if I didn't add any sound. Symbolism:  2. Post Synchronization Dubbing: For this scene there weren't any sounds that fit well for the first clip, however, for the second clip I chose to use a tape rewind wound because it made it seem like the video was moving backwards as the camera pulled away. Simultaneity: 3. Post Synchronization Dubbing: I chose a coin dropping because I believed it conveyed the same message as something else dropping, and the footsteps was just something I added in so it made it seem like I was walking to pick up the pencil. Contrast:  4.  Post Synchronization Dubbing: The first scene I chose to add a phone to make it seem like I wasn't doing any work and I was instead on my phone. For the next scene I chose cheering because it seems like people would be happy if you did your work on time as opposed to procrastinate. Parallelism: 5.  Post Synchronization Dubbi...

Simultaneity: This shot is from Black Widow, in this scene we see as Taskmaster is able to learn all the enemies moves just by watching a video of them. Simultaneity is demonstrated because we see in Taskmasters visor the video but we don't truly see it until we see the whole room. Leit Motif: This is a scene from Star Wars: Rogue Theory in which Darth Vader Attacks the enemy. We see Leit Motif shown in this scene because as soon as Darth Vader walks in to the room and ignites his light saber his theme song starts playing. Also, everything gets very ominous and the enemy knows they are in trouble. Parallelism: This shot is from Doctor Strange in which we see Steven Strange use the time stone in order to beat Dormamu. However, we see parallelism when we see Strange's reaction to Dormamu but then we actually see Dormamu's size and how massive he is compared to Strange.

Symbolism: For this shot I zoomed into my girlfriends Lely Trojans jacket and then I zoomed out of the Trojan statue. This one was easy to film especially because I was working with 2 still objects. Contrast: For this shot I showed how I was just sitting around not doing work, and my girlfriend was actually reading and getting her work done on time. This shot demonstrates the two contrasting people who do work and what they look like when they work. Parallelism: In order to film this one I got a shot of the courtyard before lunch started and then during lunch. This way I could show how quick of a change it was over just the course of a period. Simultaneity: For this shot we used a pencil falling of screen and then me bending over to pick it up. This shot was difficult because I couldn’t think of anything else to film so we just did that. Leit Motif: For Leit Motif I wasn’t to sure how to film it, so I just got a shot of the scene from Star Wars: Rogue Theory. In this scene they use the...

Black Widow Movie Review

Image
Review of a Few Camera Angles in the Movie Black Widow (2021) From Producer Marvel Studios I chose this movie because when I heard it came out I was really excited to be able to watch movies again. This movie follows the events of Captain America: Civil War. In this movie Natasha is a fugitive and she reunites with her sister who she hasn't seen in forever. While many people did like this movie, I personally did not like this movie after watching it. I don't think it did justice to the Marvel movies and I think it was to slow and didn't make any sense to me. This shot is a choker shot; in this scene we see as taskmaster, as master assassin, learns all of Natasha and Yelena's moves in order to be able to beat and kill them. Taskmaster plans on killing Natasha and Yelena because they have a serum that will cure all of the other agents from being brainwashed. This shot also acts as a very menacing shot to show just how scary taskmaster is. This shot is an extreme long shot...

Reid's Storyboard Shots Reid, my favorite shot of yours had to have been your action shot. I truly was shocked to see your fist heading towards me, or rather the camera, at mach 5. Another shot that portrayed emotion well was your extreme close up. To me at least it felt as if you had a sense of panic or stress.  Lastly, a great shot had to have been your reaction shot. I really felt your sense of confusion and disorientation as your screen changed colors so rapidly. Josh's Storyboard Shots Josh, although all your shots are wonderful, there are three of them that stand out the most to me. Your panorama really help to show the environment you were in. A quiet school hallway must've meant that this was taken during a class period. Another shot that was good was your following shot. It helped to show what you actor was doing without needing the use of a POV shot. Lastly, a shot that stood out was your extreme close up. It showed the facial features in great detail. There is no...
